Standard 4: Librarians have the ability to advocate for dynamic school library programs and positive learning environments that focus on student learning and achievement.
Personal Philosophy: “Perhaps the best way to reach teachers is to give them the personalized attention and professional concern that will aid them in preparing, organizing, and presenting instructional programs—in short, providing the collaborative support that will help them to become better teachers.” (Morris, 2010, pg. 99). I have taken this statement as my personal philosophy. A librarian must be a leader and a servant.
Reflective Statement:While pursuing my degree in Media I have worked on several projects that have allowed me to advocate for the library. In my artifacts, I will include a project demonstrating library advocacy at the high school level and another project at a national level.
